Commercial solar case study

ALC CommercialSolar Project

Commercial Solar Designed Around Business Energy Demand
Minto, NSW

Braintric began by understanding how two sites consumed electricity. Site inspections, bills and interval data informed three system models and PV design options before engineering, grid approval, installation, commissioning and ongoing monitoring.

The commercial energy challenge

Start With the Energy Load, Not the Number of Panels

Commercial solar performs best when it is designed around how a business actually consumes electricity. Braintric began with two site inspections and an assessment of the existing energy environment—not a predetermined system size.

Electricity bills and interval consumption data were analysed to understand the sites’ load profile and the relationship between demand and potential daytime generation. This evidence became the foundation for each option.

The roof showed what could fit. The energy data helped determine what should be built.

Data-led design

Three Models Before One Final Solution

Multiple options allowed capacity, infrastructure, consumption and expected solar utilisation to be considered before the preferred solution was selected.

Engineering the solution

From Energy Analysis to Electrical Engineering

Braintric progressed the preferred approach through PV and electrical design, Single Line Diagram preparation, assessment of the existing infrastructure and structural assessment.

Braintric also managed the grid connection application with Endeavour Energy. The approved systems proceeded without a project-specific export limitation being imposed.

Installed systems

Two Sites. One Coordinated Project.

Both systems were delivered through the same assessment, design, approval and commissioning pathway.

Electrical integration

Solar Required More Than Rooftop Installation

Braintric assessed the electrical environment and completed the switchboard upgrade required to support the solar integration.

Following the works, the required metering application was submitted to the relevant electricity provider.

Installation & commissioning

From Design to Operational System

Braintric delivered the PV installation and associated electrical works, upgraded the switchboard, completed system integration, and progressed the installation through testing and commissioning.

Monitoring was established before customer handover. Braintric continues to monitor the system, extending the project relationship beyond installation day.

Future battery feasibility

Designing Beyond the Solar Installation

Braintric assessed battery storage as a potential future stage of the sites’ energy strategy—investigating how excess solar generation could potentially be stored and used at other times.

Clear project boundary: Battery storage was assessed for future implementation. A battery was not installed as part of this project.

From solar to smart energy

Measure. Generate. Store. Optimise.

Commercial solar can be the first stage of a broader strategy involving storage, metering, demand management and intelligent control.
